The Leeds United defender will need to be at his best to keep Wolverhampton Wanderers’ impressive attackers at bay.
When Pontus Jansson first arrived at Leeds United, he endeared himself to the Elland Road faithful with a string of outstanding performances, but this season the Swedish international has been well below his best.
In line with many of his experienced teammates, Jansson has flattered to deceive on too many occasions and, if ever there was a time for him to rediscover his best form, it is this evening.
Leeds got back to winning ways on Sunday when they overcame Middlesbrough 2-1 at Elland Road, but their next clash is away to current league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers and the Whites will need to be firing on all cylinders to get one over the hosts.
Wolves have some of the most exciting and effective attackers in the second tier and Jansson needs to replicate the form he showed when he first arrived in England in order to keep a valuable clean sheet.
It will not be up to the Leeds centre-back along but he can lead by example and, if he can keep the dangerous Leo Bonatini at bay, it will go a long way to ensuring Thomas Christiansen’s side head back to Yorkshire with a massive feather in their proverbial cap.
Leeds have the players to secure a belated promotion in 2018 and Jansson will be vital to the cause, hopefully starting tonight…
