Garth Crooks has written on BBC Sport that reported Arsenal target Raheem Sterling should leave Manchester City.

What’s the story?

The former Tottenham Hotspur forward believes that Sterling, linked with a move to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, has lost his confidence at City.

The BBC pundit believes that it is time for the 26-year-old attacking midfielder to leave the defending Premier League champions.

The Daily Star reported this month that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants to bring Sterling to the Emirates Stadium.

CalcioMercato have claimed that the Gunners have offered City a choice out of Alexandre Lacazette, Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba to be included in the deal for Sterling.

Crooks wrote about Sterling on on BBC Sport: “As for Sterling, unlike De Bruyne, he’s lost some of his confidence when playing for City – yet not for England.

“I have sensed for some time now that the relationship between Pep Guardiola and Sterling is not what it was. Maybe it is time for Sterling to leave. The question is, where?”

Could Raheem Sterling move to Arsenal?

City letting a player as good as Sterling leave in the middle of the season is unlikely.

However, you never know.

Former Liverpool attacker Sterling said last week that he is open to leaving City for more playing time.

In our view, that is certainly encouraging for Arsenal.

Now, of course, City are not going to just let Sterling, who can also play as a winger, leave.

They are going to ask for a decent transfer fee, especially as they paid £44 million (BBC Sport) to Liverpool for Sterling.

If Arsenal can put together a good bid, then, yes, in our view, a transfer could well happen.
