Crag Burley warned Jurgen Klopp that Liverpool could be ‘pulled apart’ if he selects Ben Davies against Manchester City today, as he told ESPN.
The former Scotland international stated that if Liverpool hand Davies his Premier League debut, in order to bulk up their midfield, then it would be a ‘big call’.
Liverpool’s problems at centre-back has caused the biggest problems to their engine room because it has meant that both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have had to drop back.
Whether that changes today remains to be seen, as Burley shared his thoughts on Davies potentially starting.
“If Fabinho is fit and he goes back in there,” said Burley. “Likelihood is that it’s the young boy Davies from Preston.
“But you are dammed if you do and you are dammed if you don’t. You put somebody who has Championship experience in, only, and you put him in against this Man City side.
“I mean this Man City side have been pulling teams apart. They haven’t been scoring the goals. But they have still been pulling sides from pillar to posts.
“It is a big call to try and stiffen up your midfield and to try and potentially put in one of those players.”

There’s no doubt that this is a bigger game for Liverpool than it is for the current Premier League leaders.
Defeat for the champions then the gap is ten points, and even a fully charged Liverpool side would struggle to claw that one back, nevermind, one that has suffered so many hits.
However, three points, and Davies making his debut, would be some introduction for the Englishman.
