Joey Veerman has said that the Ibrox atmosphere “hurt” when playing against Rangers for PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday night. The PSV midfielder is a name well-known to Rangers fans, given their interest in the Dutchman last summer.
Veerman, 23, joined PSV in January and immediately made his mark. He played 24 times in all competitions during the second half of last season, having a hand in 13 goals – scoring six times, and laying on seven assists for his new club.
It comes after Rangers saw a £4million bid rejected by his old club Heerenveen last summer. Now, after potentially moving to Rangers under Steven Gerrard, he made his Ibrox bow – but for PSV, helping his side secure a good result.
PSV are now favourites to reach the Champions League group stages, having drawn at Ibrox. Next week, Rangers go to PSV for the second leg but with the Dutch side at home, they are favourites. Veerman gave his take on Ibrox.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and the exprience of playing at Ibrox. It hurt my ears when they all started shouting. But I warn Rangers that our supporters will be just as loud next week, 100 per cent,” Veerman said, as per Glasgow World.
Veerman says Rangers atmosphere ‘hurt’ during PSV clash
He is one of PSV’s danger men. If Rangers are to withstand the heat of the PSV support next week, part of their game plan must be to control the impressive Veerman. His numbers are proof that he can hurt Rangers in the second leg.
Even this season, Veerman has already had a hand in four goals during his six games – scoring three and creating another. There will be a lot of tests and Rangers will have to rely on a bit of luck, but the Gers are still in with a shout.
