Michel Vorm has admitted that ‘it hasn’t worked out’ for Harry Kane at Tottenham, in regards to trying to win a trophy, as he told Sky Sports.

The former Spurs goalkeeper stated that Kane is a ‘top player’ and he can understand both arguments, in him wanting to leave and the club wanting him to stay.

All summer long, Kane, during a crazy summer transfer window for clubs across Europe, constantly hit the headlines about a possible move to Man City.

In the end, nothing materialised, despite Pep Guardiola’s comments that he wanted to sign him, as he told Sky Sports.

Vorm, who would have seen Kane train up close and personal on a regular basis, had nothing but kind words to say about the player.

“He’s a top professional and he is a top player,” said Vorm. “He has shown that throughout his whole career at Tottenham.

“He has ambitions and he wants to win trophies. At the moment, it hasn’t worked out for him at Tottenham, in that way.

“So, from that perspective, it’s normal for a football player and the way he is as a professional. He is searching for winning trophies. At the moment, at Tottenham, it has been hard. From that perspective, I understand.

“But, on the other hand, he also has a contract for a couple of seasons, so I also understand for Tottenham that their best player that they don’t want him to leave.”

There has been a mixed reaction to what happened to Kane in the summer, with some questioning whether that has filtered into the start of the new season.

Kane is yet to get off the mark in the Premier League, but he has netted in the Europa Conference League and he did score against Wolves in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.

The England captain loves a goal in the North London derby – and what a way for him to open his account then at Arsenal on Sunday.

It’s perhaps written in the stars for him to score at the Emirates, and that from the penalty spot, because he has done so before.
