Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that ‘it hasn’t worked out’ for Sadio Mane at Bayern Munich after he left Liverpool in the summer.

Despite Jurgen Klopp wanting to keep Sadio Mane on board, the all-action forward wanted to start a new chapter in his career, so he headed to Germany.

During his days in the Premier League, former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor thinks that the 30-year-old was a ‘top, top player’.

From helping end the Reds’ 30-year wit to be champions of England to that magical night in Madrid as they became champions of Europe.

Mane produced moments that mean he is a legend on Merseyside and someone that could make an argument to get into Liverpool’s all-time XI – there was even a suggestion that he is better than Arsenal legend, Dennis Bergkamp.

Either way, he was lauded by Agbonlahor, who spoke about how things have been the same for both parties since his exit, as he told talkSPORT.

“Mane was a top, top player,” said Agbonlahor. “It hasn’t worked out for him at Bayern Munich with injuries.

“But, for Liverpool, he was outstanding. Liverpool haven’t been the same since he has gone.”

GRASS ISN’T ALWAYS GREENER

Whilst Liverpool fans wanted Mane to stay, it just proves that going to a league that is deemed easier isn’t exactly going to extract better results.

Mane is finding that out because, alongside his injury issues, he has 11 goals in all competitions in Munich and he is now working under the stewardship of former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.

This comes after the sacking of Julian Nagelsmann, despite Bayern still being in the Champions League, where they will play Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
