Robbie Savage was left shocked on 606 on BBC Radio 5 Live Sport after Chris Sutton stated that ‘it doesn’t matter’ what happens between Rangers and Celtic on Sunday.

Even before Christmas, many Celtic fans knew the Premiership title was heading back to Rangers, as they shot themselves in the foot, time and time again.

If the unbeaten run is ended then it won’t matter too much to the supporters because Rangers would still have the title and Celtic’s troubles won’t go away.

Nonetheless, ex-Premier League midfielder, Savage, asked the outspoken, Sutton, to share his thoughts on the dead-rubber Old Firm encounter and he issued this response.

“Not really,” said Sutton. “It doesn’t matter that game.”

Savage then asked Sutton: “What about Celtic? Can they stop Rangers from being unbeaten?”

The ex-Bhoys hitman stated by saying: “They have won the league. It doesn’t matter.”

Savage responded by saying: “It doesn’t matter, Celtic v Rangers? Meaningless? You said it’s the biggest derby in the world. Wow.”

Sutton seemingly ignored his co-host by then adding: “Scott Brown’s last game for Celtic against Rangers. But the result doesn’t matter.”

Even if nothing is riding on the game, in terms of the title, this is still the Old Firm derby, so something is always on the line.

It could even be argued that this allows Celtic to set the marker for next season by winning in their rivals back yard, but it has to be questioned how much will change at Parkhead over the summer.

From a new manager to star players potentially leaving, a summer of serious re-build is on the cards and further defeats against Rangers will only make matters worse.
