Stuart Dallas has admitted to TalkSport (10/10/20 at 9:15 am) that ‘it didn’t look good’ when he swapped shirts with Erling Haaland on international duty in September.

Leeds-born Haaland ran riot as Norway thrashed Northern Ireland 5-1 in the UEFA Nations League, with the two players swapping shirts at full time and Dallas laughing as the camera panned to him.

Given that Dallas’ team had just been swept aside in the Nations League encounter, the last thing he would have wanted is to be seen in a jovial mood with an opposition player.

But Dallas has shared what happened on that night, as Leeds fans will love what the Dortmund man had to say to him.

“I am not one for swapping shirts,” Dallas told TalkSport. “I just like to keep my own shirts no matter who I play against. He just walked passed me, I went to shake his hand and he said ‘Are we swapping shirts?’.

“It probably wasn’t the smartest thing for me to do looking back on it because we had just been beaten 5-1 and I am seeing laughing on the camera. It didn’t look too good for me.

“He just asked me to swap shirts and I thought he meant inside. I walked on. He then shouted at me and said ‘we do it now’. So we did it and then he leant into me and said ‘Marching on Together’. It was a bit strange. Obviously, I know the Leeds connection there with his Dad. It’s nice for me that he wanted my shirt.”

  2. Raphinha

  3. Rio Ferdinand (2000)

A larger than life character, Haaland is someone who stands out from the crowd and an individual who likes to make his feelings known.

Given that he was born in Leeds and his own father once donned the famous Whites colours, it isn’t a surprise that he still has a place in his heart for the Yorkshire giants.

Plus, the way Leeds have started life back in the Premier League, there’s no doubt that Haaland will be watching and enjoying their rise under Marcelo Bielsa from afar.
