Gabby Agbonlahor told Sky Sports (23/05/21 at 11:35 am) that Harry Kane’s departure could also result in Heung-Min Son leaving Tottenham.

The ex-Premier League striker thinks Kane potentially leaving this summer could have a ‘knock-on effect’ for some of the Tottenham players, including the future of their £22 million speedster (Guardian).

Sky Sports have reported that Kane wants to leave Spurs this summer, as the Premier League’s highest goalscorer and assist-maker chases trophies.

And Agbonlahor questioned why Son would sign a new deal at Tottenham if Kane does indeed head for the North London exit door.

“If I am Son, I am thinking if Harry Kane’s looking to leave then ‘where does this leave me’,” said Agbonlahor.

“He’s arguably the joint-best player, the second-best player Tottenham have got. Does he want to stay around?

“It could trigger Son doing exactly the same as Kane and looking to move away. If I was Son and Kane was to leave this summer then I don’t think I would sign a new contract at Spurs.

“The way I would think is ‘the way I have performed this season, the number of goals I have scored and the performances I have put in’. Son has been outstanding then I would think ‘I deserve to go to a club like Harry Kane that’s going to challenge in the Champions League and the Premier League’.

“So, for me, it would have a knock-on effect with some of the Tottenham players.”

Both Kane and Son have been perhaps the outstanding attacking partnership in the Premier League this season.

The duo broke Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton’s record for most goal involvements during a single campaign since 1992.

And this is where Daniel Levy needs to show his worth because allowing Kane to leave will only result in others questioning where the club is headed.

A lot of the blame has to lie at Levy’s feet because Spurs have gone from Champions League finalists to the Europa League Conference in next to no time.
