Stephen Warnock has told Sky Sports News (09/08/21 at 12:10 pm) that Nuno Espirito Santo could still sign Raul Jimenez from Wolves for Tottenham.

The 30-year-old has recently returned from a long-term head injury for Wolves, but Warnock feels that injury possibly prevented Nuno from signing Jimenez at his new club.

Nuno left Wolves this summer and not many expected him to turn up at Tottenham’s doorstep.

Given the situation surrounding Harry Kane, Nuno might need to replace the Englishman upfront as Warnock spoke about Jimenez’s qualities.

“He brings such quality,” said Warnock. “This is my concern with him this year. We know he has had such a bad head injury and we are wondering how competitive he is going to be.

“Is it in his mind? The mentality and what he is thinking – this is one of his greatest skills as well. It’s not just about crosses into the box. It’s about him taking players on. He’s got such great feet to draw players in. He creates as well.

“If he didn’t have his head injury, and Nuno goes to Spurs, then you wonder if he takes Jimenez with him? It could still happen.”

Nuno hasn’t raided his former club for any players yet, but that hasn’t stopped rumours circulating that a number of them could join him.

There were previous suggestions that there could be a ‘double raid’ of Wolves from Spurs, with Daniel Podence and Willy Boly the men on the shortlist.

But they aren’t the only ones because Conor Coady is another name that has been mentioned.

Either way, Spurs are starting to get that bit busier in the transfer market, with Cristian Romero the latest name to come through their doors.

But this Kane situation isn’t pleasant for anyone and if he does leave then it could become problematic for Nuno ahead of the new season, which starts this week.
