‘It can’t be right’: Steve Bruce has a message for Aston Villa fans ahead of Boro clash

The Aston Villa boss was furious with his side’s display at Brentford on Boxing Day.

Villa boss Steve Bruce delivered a message to the club’s fans, when speaking to reporters ahead of his side’s clash with Middlesbrough on Saturday, highlighting the need for his players to perform at the Riverside, as quoted by the club’s official website.

The Villans are have once again been incredibly inconsistent this season, and currently sit in eighth spot in the Championship table, having spent heavily over the past 18 months or so.

Villa fans have been left disappointed with their side’s displays this term, and rightly so – they are currently in the midst of a five game winless run in the Championship.

Bruce will be desperate for his side to get back on track with a win on Teesside this weekend, and he told the club’s official website how the Villa fans deserve more than his players have given them recently:

“I don’t know how many times I’ve said it, but they’re a remarkable bunch. They’re rightly disappointed tonight, and no more than myself. We haven’t given them anything to shout about. That can’t be right. We’ll try and amend that on Saturday.”

The west Midlands outfit cannot afford to lose to Boro on Saturday, if they harbour genuine ambitions of finishing inside the automatic promotion spots this season.

That will be easier said than done of course, with Tony Pulis’ side heading into the game full of confidence on the back of two consecutive league wins.
