Darren Bent says ‘it can’t be right’ that Fabinho’s rumoured transfer from Liverpool to Saudi Arabia is in danger because of his dogs.
With Jordan Henderson already out of the door and saying his goodbyes to the Liverpool faithful on Wednesday, there is every chance that he is joined in the Middle East by his midfield partner.
Whilst Liverpool’s now-departed captain is 33, and some are more understanding of his exit, Fabinho is still 29 and at the peak of his powers.
Saudi Arabia Pro League side, Al-Ittihad, want to seal a £40 million move for the Brazil star, but there are suggestions that it could be scuppered because of the nation banning ‘dangerous and aggressive dogs’ – Fabinho has two French bulldogs, according to Guardian.
You would expect, if the Reds are happy for the player to leave, then the deal would go through and All-Ittihad will get their man – and they won’t lose out on much, from a financial aspect, because they signed him for £44 million (Sky Sports) back in 2018.
Given these high-profile departures from Liverpool, former Premier League striker Bent ‘isn’t worried’ about the club’s future under Jurgen Klopp.

“Fabinho hasn’t gone yet,” said Bent. “I heard a silly rumour. That can’t be right about his dogs.
“Over the years, they have let a number of big players go. I wouldn’t be worried because I think more players will come in.
“They have purchased Alexis Mac Allister, who is a good player. They have brought in Dominik Szoboszlai. But I think they need more reinforcements.”
Fabinho – a Liverpool legend
Jamie Carragher labelled Henderson a ‘legend’ upon him confirming his exit on Wednesday – and you would imagine he would say the same about Fabinho.
When the former Monaco star joined the club, they proceeded to win the Champions League trophy in his first campaign and then the Premier League title.
Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk get a lot of praise for that turnaround and change in fortune because they were bought in and around that time, with Fabinho perhaps being a little underappreciated.
