Dean Smith’s side were forced to close their Bodymoor Heath training centre after a ‘significant’ outbreak of the virus occurred.
After hearing of the outbreak, Lineker tweeted the following.
As Sky Sports covered, the Villans say a large number of first-team players and staff have tested positive for Coronavirus.
That initially plunged today’s FA Cup meeting with Liverpool into doubt.
However, the Midlands-based outfit plan to field a team of youngsters in order for the match to go ahead, according to the BBC.
Mark Delaney, Villa’s Under-23 coach, is set to take the reins for the clash with Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League champions.
In that respect, Lineker seems to have been slightly presumptive when saying ‘it appears highly likely’ that the FA Cup clash will be called off.
However, the BBC Match of the Day host also expresses his fear that football will soon be called to a halt yet again, which is a much more valid point.
Fulham were recently hit by a bout of Coronavirus.
Elsewhere, Newcastle were forced to close their Darsley Park training centre for a number of days as the BBC reported.
The number of Premier League cases are certainly rising, which is a real worry.
