Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Diogo Jota will miss the game against Manchester United on Tuesday due to injury.
The Merseyside club are set to face the Red Devils as a part of their pre-season tour of Asia, but sadly, Jota won’t be able to face off against United.
Klopp’s team haven’t had the best of luck with injuries so far during pre-season. Darwin Nunez pulled out of a session over the weekend, and now, Jota isn’t fit enough to play in the Reds’ first friendly.
What’s been said?
Klopp gave an update on Jota.
“The plan for United is to use all of our players, except a couple maybe. We will see, but we know one of them is Diogo because of a little issue he has from earlier in the summer,” Klopp said.
“It’s nothing serious but we decided not to take the risk with him for this game, especially as it’s only our first game of the pre-season.”
“Pretty much all of the rest of the boys will all get some minutes. We have brought a big squad here, some young boys and the more senior guys, and we give them all some time.”

Firmino’s chance
With Jota out of action and Nunez struggling in a session earlier this week, this could be a chance for Roberto Firmino to re-establish himself in this Liverpool team.
The Brazilian saw his minutes limited last term, but a solid pre-season could see the former Hoffenheim man work his way back into Jurgen Klopp’s plans.
As we all know, Firmino is certainly good enough to be a key player for the Reds, and if he’s going to be starting against United, he could impress enough to work his way back up the Anfield pecking order.
This game will certainly be an intriguing one.
