Issa Diop has told West Ham United’s official website that Manuel Pellegrini was analytical after his side were hammered by Manchester City at the weekend.

City ran out 4-0 winners at the London Stadium on Saturday, with West Ham unable to deal with Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Hammers’ performance in the contest was actually not a terrible one, but they could not cope with the quality that City had.

And Pellegrini said that the difference between the two sides was the fact that Guardiola’s side were so ruthless in both boxes.

“You never have an easy game in the Premier League – every game is very hard. Maybe we are playing teams more in the middle of the table and below us now, but every game is tough, so we need to improve,” Diop said.

“We must win against these teams because it also stops them taking the points. The manager said to us the difference on Saturday was in the details because we didn’t play well in either box. We can do better.”

Diop went into the game feeling that he hadn’t played well at West Ham since joining in the summer.

His mood is unlikely to have been improved by the mauling suffered at the hands of City.

However, Diop has still impressed since coming to England, and West Ham are unlikely to be the last team to suffer a hammering from City so far this season.

The Hammers are next in action at the weekend when they take on Newcastle United.
