Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has shared Tottenham’s view on hiring Ralf Rangnick after he was linked with the vacant post.

The German has made quite a name for himself with the work he’s done in him home country, and with the 62-year-old being out of work at the moment, he’s inevitably been linked to the Tottenham job.

However, it seems unlikely that he’ll be appointed, as Gold claims he’s not high up Tottenham’s shortlist at the moment.

“Another one in the cheap but very experienced bracket is Ralf Rangnick, who I understand is someone who isn’t high up the shortlist or the long list, but he’s someone that they have a more serious look at when the condense the list, because he’s very experienced,” Gold said.

“One thing I would say with him, where he doesn’t quite fit in, is that he’s more of a Director of Football type with the RB Leipzig and Salzburg set up that they’ve got there, and I do wonder how he’d come into the team, in a Premier League team it’s so full-on, you can’t be a manager and a Director of Football in one, it doesn’t work.”

This is certainly an interesting update.

Rangnick has been strongly linked with the Tottenham job, and with the London club’s options whittling down, it seemed as though he was a genuine candidate.

Of course, he could still get the job. After all, he is on that shortlist somewhere, but that will surely only happen if they miss out on their first-choice targets.

Who Spurs hire remains to be seen.
