Matthew Upson told Sky Sports Football (07/09/ 21 at 8:40 pm) that Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp limping off for England U21’s today ‘isn’t good news’ for the club.
The hard-hitting midfielder started England’s Euro 2023 qualifier against Kosovo – they won 2-0 at the MK Dons Stadium.
Just like the start he has had at Tottenham this season, Skipp was his regular self and he was thriving in the middle of the park for his country.
But after 80 minutes, the former Norwich loanee was seen holding his left thigh and he had an uncomfortable look on his face.
Skipp was walking in a gingerly manner as he was subbed off and the signs weren’t great for the player or his club.
During his commentary stint for Sky, former England defender Upson reacted to what he was seeing.
“It is a concerning sight,” agreed Upson. “Judging by Oliver Skipp’s face, he knows it because he is feeling the inside of his left groin or thigh.
“It looks to be a muscular problem, which isn’t good news for Spurs.”

Skipp has been one of Tottenham’s standout stars this season and he is starting to form quite the partnership with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the midfield.
It could be argued that Skipp is just a younger version of the Dane because the duo are two hard-hitting and aggressively-natured players.
As a result of having that quality in their team, Spurs are the only Premier League side with a 100% start and they are also yet to concede a goal.
So, if it is indeed bad news for Spurs then Nuno Espirito Santo may have to change tact after the international break.
But until then, Spurs fans will have their fingered crossed and be hopeful that it’s just tiredness in his legs, more than anything else.
