Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a host of players over the summer, but none were really quite as bizarre as Celtic’s Ismaila Soro.
Tottenham did sign a midfielder, but they will only arrive next season.
Pape Sarr has signed from Metz and is spending this season back on loan with the French club.
Another midfielder link was Soro, with the Daily Mail claiming that Tottenham wanted to sign him.
Tottenham allegedly saw Soro as a holding midfielder who could make a real impact in the Premier League.
Right now, that idea seems bizarre.
Tottenham-linked Soro is hardly thriving at Celtic
The 23-year-old was supposed to take on a bigger role at Celtic this season, but doesn’t seem to be a key man under Ange Postecoglou.
Soro has played in six of Celtic’s eight league games, but played just 219 of Celtic’s 720 league minutes.

The Ivorian, a £2million signing from Bnei Yehuda, hasn’t even started a league game since the opening fixture of the season.
In Europe, Soro was criticised by James McFadden for being somewhat anonymous against Real Betis. McFadden felt that the game pass him by and ultimately cost Celtic.
Soro still has potential, but when everybody is fully fit, you would imagine that Callum McGregor, David Turnbull, Nir Bitton and James McCarthy would be ahead of Soro.
From being linked with Tottenham to being down Celtic’s pecking order, Soro doesn’t seem anywhere close to a Premier League move right now.
