Slimani has scored 103 goals in 268 career appearances, and he would act as a fantastic focal point for the Saints to build their attacking play from.
The Algeria international signed for Leicester in the summer of 2016, for around £29 million, but he was never really given a run of regular starts, and should Hasenhüttl provide him with exactly that, he might just finally prove what he is capable of in the Premier League.
Whether Southampton would be able to loan him for the rest of the season or just buy him outright is unclear, but Hasenhüttl should explore the possibility of bringing him to St Mary’s in either case.
He could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the Saints.
