Leicester City striker Islam Slimani has been shown that a move to Newcastle United would be best for him.
Islam Slimani’s omission from Leicester City’s squad, surely means he should jump at the chance to join Newcastle United in the January transfer window.
Slimani was left out of Leicester’s match day squad which took on Manchester City in the League Cup quarter-final last night, and appears to have no future at the King Power Stadium under Claude Puel.
Puel has already confirmed that Slimani did not miss out due to injury, but because competition for places is fierce with the Foxes.
And with Slimani so out of favour, Newcastle must be confident that a deal can be done, for the striker which Rafael Benitez wants (Mail).
Slimani cost Leicester £28 million to sign from Sporting Lisbon back in 2016, the Mail suggest, but the Algerian has been unable to hold down a place in the Foxes’ first-team.
The 29-year-old has shown glimpses of quality though, and with Newcastle looking for a forward, he could provide a good option.
Slimani would surely be an upgrade on Joselu at St. James’ Park, and the striker is likely to be keen to leave Leicester, if the opportunity arises next month.
