Islam Slimani joined Newcastle United on loan from Leicester City in the January transfer window.

Newcastle signed Slimani on loan from Premier League rivals Leicester in the January transfer window.
The 29-year-old Algeria international striker will remain at St. James’ Park until the end of the season.

The former CR Belouizdad star has suggested that he wants to remain at Newcastle beyond the summer.
Slimani told The Guardian: “I feel most comfortable in the No 9 shirt so why not in the future here? I’d be very happy if I could stay here longer. My objective is to score goals here.”
Summer boost already
Slimani has yet to feature for Newcastle, but the Algerian seems to have already given the Magpies a summer boost.
The former Sporting Lisbon striker is a good player, and although his time at Leicester has not been great, there is no doubt about his quality and calibre.

A striker of the Algeria’s quality and experience can only be good for Newcastle, and him suggesting that he is open to staying at Newcastle in the long term is certainly a boost to Rafael Benitez’s side in regarding to making signings in the summer of 2018.
Slimani joined Leicester from Sporting in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £29 million.
