Tottenham Hotspur fans expect their club to make a marquee signing this summer.
Real Madrid’s Isco in action
Spurs fans will be hoping that their club make a big splash in the transfer market this summer, with the signing of a proven world-class star thought to be the missing link between success and what ultimately has to be judged as failure.
Real Madrid star Isco has been heavily linked with a switch to Tottenham over the past 12 months, but his recent comments to the Spanish media appear to have poured cold water on any prospect of a move to north London.
He told reporters of his hopes to sign a new deal with Madrid, as quoted by Spanish media outlet Fichajes:
“I hope to sign a new deal soon. There is no better place to play, or to be. This is the best club in the world.”
Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery, Robert Lewandowski, Arturo Vidal, Rafinha and Douglas Costa celebrate
In light of the Spaniard’s comments, it will now be crucial for the Lilywhites to intensify their interest in Bayern Munich star Douglas Costa, after the Mirror claimed back in April that they were considering a £30 million summer bid for the Brazilian.
The 26-year-old winger fell out of favour at Bayern under Carlo Ancelotti this season, making just 14 Bundesliga starts for the Bavarian giants.
He still has so much to offer, however, and with his electric pace and mesmerising skills on the ball, his addition to the Spurs side could help elevate them into genuine contenders in Europe, as well as domestically.

The talented winger can play anywhere along the front-line, and his blistering speed when in possession of the football would provide Tottenham with an entirely different threat to what they currently possess in forward areas.
And if the north London outfit can tempt Bayern into selling Costa for a fee somewhere in the region of £30 million, they should not hesitate to bring the Brazilian to the Premier League.
