Carlo Ancelotti has told Real Madrid’s official website that Isco is leaving, amid reported interest from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United.

Eurosport reported in December 2021 that Arsenal and Newcastle are among the clubs interested in signing Real Madrid attacking midfielder Isco on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.

According to El Españyol in March, West Ham United are keen on the £211,000-a-week (SalarySport) playmaker.

Isco is out of contract at Madrid this summer, and Los Blancos head coach Ancelotti has praised the 30-year-old Spain international attacking midfielder, adding that he is now set to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.

Arsenal and Newcastle United-linked Isco leaving Real Madrid

Ancelotti told Madrid’s official website about Isco: “I mentioned to Isco before that he made his debut in my first game here at Madrid and scored a header. This is the end of a fantastic career at Real Madrid.

“Yes, he could have done more, but he’s been an important part of this team in recent years. He’s featured in important games and in finals. He’s always competed well and proved his quality. I wish him all the best.”

In our view, Isco would be a good signing for Arsenal or Newcastle United if he is willing to take a pay-cut.

Yes, Isco has not been at his best for a while now and has had injury problems as well, but we cannot ignore the creative ability and vision of the Madrid player.

The 30-year-old is a serial winner, having won the La Liga title thrice and the Champions League on four occasions with Madrid.

If Isco is willing to reduce his £211,000-a-week salary (SalarySport), then he would be a good addition for Arsenal or Newcastle.

The Gunners could do with a senior playmaker in the squad who has been successful in Europe, while Newcastle’s owners PIF will surely love to sign a global star.
