Newcastle United drew 1-1 with Watford, but their goal in the contest should have been disallowed.

Newcastle claimed a point against Watford at the weekend, but VAR should have ruled Steve Bruce’s side’s goal out.
The ball hit Hayden’s hand on the way to falling to Fabian Schar, and under the new laws it should have been ruled out.
However, Newcastle were awarded the goal – much to Watford’s frustration.
And Hayden said: “I had no idea. I was just looking around, and thought it came off Dawson. I think he headed it on to me did he? And then it sort off rolled off my arm?
“I don’t know. It was a bit of a strange one because, like I said to the lads after the game, if it happened like that, I would have thought VAR would have picked it up. It’s all confusing isn’t it?”
The new handball law has been one of the most controversial additions to the Premier League over the summer, with many observers feeling that it doesn’t add to the game.

Nevertheless, Newcastle were fortunate to get away with the goal which they scored, even though Schar tucked the chance away nicely.
There is no telling how important the point may prove to be for Newcastle come the end of the season, as Watford are another side who could be facing a relegation battle this term.
Newcastle now have collected four points from their first four matches with their next match coming against Liverpool after the international break.
