The Magpies have kicked off their Championship campaign with two defeats.
Newcastle United’s Isaac Hayden
Isaac Hayden has told the Shields Gazette that Newcastle United have more than enough goals in their team despite their disappointing start to life in the Championship.
Despite being amongst the biggest spenders in the division over the summer, Rafael Benitez’s men kicked off their campaign with a 1-0 defeat at Fulham and followed it up with a surprise 2-1 loss at home to Huddersfield on Saturday.

But Hayden is confident that the Magpies have enough talent going forward to turn things around, and suggested that those creating the chances perhaps needed to do a better job.
“You just have to look at the players in our forward areas – they’re proven to score goals,” he told the Shields Gazette when asked about whether they have enough firepower.

“I don’t think that’s necessarily an issue, it’s just about creating more chances, getting in to more dangerous areas.
Despite Hayden’s assessment, Newcastle still managed to have more attempts than the Terriers at St James’ Park, and had one more shot on target than David Wagner’s side.
Matt Ritchie is one of several new signings this summer
But with the number of players that arrived and went straight into the first-team over the summer, it is still, in hindsight, arguably hardly surprising that they have not made the start that most expected them to.
Though the calibre of the players they have signed is undeniable, they perhaps need more time to gel together and understand each other’s games. But it will surely not be long before that chemistry is there and the team begins to climb the table.
