Isaac Hayden has confirmed that he still wishes to leave Newcastle United, and hopes that a solution can be found this month.
Hayden submitted a transfer request in the summer, but the Chronicle reports that he was unable to leave St James’ Park as the club decided to not go out and get a replacement for the midfielder.
He has gone on to make eight Premier League appearances this season. But after appearing against Manchester United on Wednesday night, Hayden – who earns £22,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – admitted that he still wanted to leave due to family reasons.
“It is unchanged and the club have known that from day one,” he said, as reported by the Chronicle. “It wasn’t going to change. My family, my partner and daughter will always come first.
“Football is football but family is more important. The club have had conversations already. Hopefully a solution can be found.”
It is a shame for the 23-year-old that he has not been allowed to leave the club. The fact that he has spoken so bluntly and publicly about his desire to go certainly says a lot about how important a move would be for him.
It cannot be helpful for Rafa Benitez either. Hayden is not a regular starter in his side by any means, but he is still an important member of the squad so he would surely rather see him leave and be replaced by someone who actually wants to be at the club.
There will unquestionably be a lot of Newcastle supporters who would like to see Hayden get his wish before this month’s deadline and seal a move away from the Magpies to bring an end to what has been an uncomfortable situation.
