Newcastle face Preston North End for a place in the last eight.
Isaac Hayden has admitted that Newcastle United are looking to become the first team from outside the top flight in 25 years to win the EFL Cup, the Chronicle reports.
The Magpies face Preston North End tonight for a place in the quarter-final of the competition. And while only two Championship sides are guaranteed to be in the hat for the last eight, Hayden has disclosed how Rafael Benitez’s men believe that they can upset the odds and go on to achieve what has not been done since Sheffield Wednesday beat Manchester United in 1991.

“You want to win as many trophies as you can during your career,” he said, as reported by the Chronicle.
“And the EFL Cup is one everybody in that changing room wants to win.”
Though Newcastle are currently plying their trade in the second tier, there are arguably few teams left in the competition that have as much confidence as the Magpies have currently.

Their emphatic 3-0 victory over Ipswich Town at the weekend was their fifth consecutive win – during which time, they have scored 13 goals – and sent them three points clear at the top of the table.
And if they overcome a decent Preston side, and subsequently get a good draw for the quarter-final, they will be even more confident that they can perhaps win the League Cup for the first time in their history.
