Isaac Hayden has hinted to the Northern Echo that he could still leave Newcastle United this summer.
Hayden had been heavily linked with a move away from Newcastle in the early part of the window, and publicly went on record to suggest that he was wanting to leave.
However, Hayden’s move has never materialised and it was thought that new boss Steve Bruce had managed to convince him to stay at Newcastle.
Bruce had worked with Hayden before at Hull City, and the pair are understood to enjoy a good relationship.
But it seems that Hayden is not totally set upon staying at Newcastle yet.
“I couldn’t answer that question (if he was definitely staying at Newcastle) right now,” he said when asked if he was staying.
“The deadline is Thursday – in football, anything can happen. I am not going to stand here and say, ‘This is me 100 per cent staying here’.”

Hayden’s words are sure to alert any interested parties that he could still be available to leave the Magpies.
If Hayden does leave it will be a huge blow to Newcastle, especially at this late stage of the summer.
The Magpies would face a race against time to bring in a replacement, with Hayden expected to play a key role at St. James’ Park if he does stick around.
