With Andre Ayew and Andy Carroll out, is Manchester City’s Wilfried Bony the man to solve Slaven Bilic’s striker problems?

Manchester City forward Wilfried Bony could be Slaven Bilic’s next summer signing.

In his pre-match press conference, as quoted by Sky Sports, West Ham manager Bilic stated that signing the Ivorian is an option as he is a player who plays in a position they are looking to reinforce.

Bony has failed to make an impact since arriving from Swansea City in January 2015, with Sergio Aguero and Kelechi Iheanacho the preferred options under Manuel Pellegrini and Pep Guardiola, so is this the time for him to move on?

West Ham have been active in the window looking to add attackers to their squad, having already signed Andre Ayew although injuries to Ayew and Carroll have forced Bilic to look once more.

It has been no secret that Bilic wants to strengthen his side since the injuries and according to Calcio Mercato in Italy, AC Milan have rejected a new bid for forward Carlos Bacca.

West Ham have looked at more high profile strikers such as Bacca and Lyon ace Alexandre Lacazette, however they have failed to lure the pair to the London Stadium.

In Bony they could have a tried and trusted goal scorer in the Premier League after scoring 26 goals in 54 games at Swansea City as well as proving himself in the Dutch league with Vitesse where he netted 51 goals in 69 appearances.

It’s certainly an area that the club need to strengthen. During Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Bournemouth it was evident that Enner Valencia isn’t the answer to their striker woes after failing to make an impact.

At City, Bony has failed to replicate his old form due to being down the pecking order with only 15 starts in 36 appearances, including six goals. But with the injury crisis Bilic faces, no doubt the Ivorian would get his chance to stake his claim in the side.

Given games Bony is a striker worthy of taken a punt on, even despite his lack of first team football in the past 18 months his record when he has regular games speaks for itself, so should Bilic go for the Ivorian?
