Could Dapo Mebude wind up being a more important player for Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers this season than Umar Sadiq?

Steven Gerrard was in attendance to watch a Rangers XI win on Sunday.
Ibrox played host as the Gers edged out Brentford B 3-2, with a number of Rangers’ first-team players on display.
But there were also a whole host of youngsters – and none more exciting than Dapo Mebude.
The 17-year-old striker scored what turned out to be the winner in front of a watching Gerrard, who must be aware of the prospect following his hat-trick against Motherwell last month.
Mebude, who was called up to Scotland Under-19s last week, is a rising star in Scottish football and could he wind up leapfrogging Umar Sadiq in Gerrard’s pecking order before the latter’s loan is finished?
Sadiq was nowhere to be seen on Saturday as Rangers’ senior side beat St Mirren, failing to even make the bench.
It seems like the Roma loanee blew his big chance following a poor display against Aberdeen last weekend and you wonder if he has given himself an even bigger job now to force his way back into contention.
Mebude, on the other hand, keeps going from strength to strength and the more noises he makes in the youth setup, the more Gerrard is likely to promote him, just as he has done with Glenn Middleton this season.
The possibility of an academy player leapfrogging Sadiq – who earns £6,000 a week with Roma [Calciomercato] – would be completely embarrassing for the Nigerian, but it really isn’t all that unlikely now.
