The Leeds United midfielder is impressing for the second string but a first-team chance seems nigh on impossible at this time.
For much of his time at Leeds United, Casper Sloth had to make do with games for the club’s under-21s and latterly under-23s, with manager after manager overlooking the Danish midfielder in favour of others.
Despite that disappointment, Sloth never put in anything less than 100 per cent for the second string, and now another Leeds midfielder is heading in the same direction in the form of Toumani Diagouraga.

Unlike Sloth, Diagouraga did at least have a prolonged run in the Leeds starting XI before Garry Monk took over as manager, but since his arrival the former Brentford midfielder has been cast aside.
Now captaining the under-23s, Diagouraga has impressed, scoring goals and more recently getting a fine assist in Leeds’ 4-0 victory against Wigan Athletic on Tuesday, while putting in an impressive overall display.

Such has been Diagouraga’s impact for the under-23s that coach Jason Blunt has been effusive in his praise, with the player attracting the same kind of comments as Sloth did before him.
Just like the Dane, Diagouraga is not letting his fall from grace effect his performances, but just like Sloth, it seems whatever he does in his remaining time at Leeds, a return to the first-team fold is all but impossible.
