A vengeful Tottenham Hotspur will take on Manchester City this weekend hoping to continue their unbeaten 2018 run.
They are the last opponents City will want to face right now after suffering three straight losses.
For Spurs defender Kieran Trippier, he has a particular point to prove.
Trippier was embarrassed at the Etihad as winger Leroy Sane tore him apart and City won 4-1.
It was the worst performance of Trippier’s Tottenham career, and the right-back admits it took him a while to recover.
He told The Mail: “It wasn’t one of the best games I’ve had. But I’ve had a lot of games since then to build my confidence back up. I just watched the game back a couple of times and looked at where I went wrong.”
Trippier has re-established himself as Tottenham’s first choice right-back, ever since Serge Aurier’s struggles away to Juventus.
The former PSG star has played against the so-called smaller teams, like against Stoke last weekend, with Trippier preferred for the big matches.
This puts him in line to face City, and Sane’s recent struggle against Liverpool and Manchester United should give Trippier extra hope.
It is a huge game for the Tottenham defender, who cannot afford to get turned inside out again.
