Leeds United have reportedly agreed deal for Barry Douglas.
Sky Sports News reported on Wednesday evening that Leeds United had agreed a £3 million deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers for Barry Douglas.
The report adds that the 28-year-old will undergo a medical with Leeds at some point today.
If and when the transfer is completed, Douglas will represent the first outright signing that United have made this summer, after adding loan duo Lewis Baker and Jamal Blackman.
Considering he helped Wolves to Premier League promotion last term, it could be a brilliant signing by Leeds, but one man who might not be as upbeat as some fans is Tom Pearce.
Earlier this month, Pearce, who was linked with a move with Everton this summer, signed a new contract with the Elland Road club and told The Yorkshire Evening Post that he now wanted to “cement” his position as a first-team regular.
However, the 20-year-old could now be Marcelo Bielsa’s third-choice left-back, behind Douglas and Laurens De Bock – who has started ahead of him in two pre-season friendliles recently – and surely that will seriously disappoint the youngster.
He finished last season as Leeds’ first-choice under Paul Heckingbottom and he now may have a massive fight on his hands to win that spot back.
