Wolves want a striker in January – so who better than Jorge Mendes client and prolific Porto attacker Tiquinho Soares?

It seems funny now when you hark back to the uncertainty and the suspicion that surrounded Jorge Mendes’ role at Wolves.
The Portuguese super-agent, who boasts a who’s who of world famous clients from Cristiano Ronaldo to Diego Costa, is a close confidante of Wolves’ owners Fosun International.
And when it became clear that Mendes had a say in Wolves’ incomings and outgoings, acting as something of an unofficial ‘sporting director’, fans were understandably concerned that their proud club was merely being used as a shop window for the agent’s wares.

A year on, however, Wolves are top of the Championship, playing some of the best football in England and can count on real star quality players that the club could only have dreamed of signing before Mendes started pulling the strings.
Mendes’ magic
And with the January window just two months away, and the Express and Star reporting that manager Nuno Espirito Santo will have money to spend, fans should be excited at the prospect of another Mendes client joining Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota and Helder Costa at Molineux.
The report adds that Wolves are after a striker – so it seems somewhat inevitable that FC Porto’s prolific frontman Tiquinho Soares will find himself at the centre of the gossip columns sooner rather than later.

Tiquinho was linked with Wolves in the closing stages of the summer transfer window, per the Birmingham Mail, after netting 12 goals in 15 games for Porto following his January move from Vitoria Guimaraes.
And though injuries have restricted the Brazilian to just five Primeira Liga appearances in 2017/18, only one of those came from the start. It seems new Porto boss Sergio Conceicao does not trust Tiquinho quite like Nuno did.
But could player and manager be reunited at Wolves? Possibly, if Mendes has anything to say about it.
