Ronaldo Vieira is one of the best young players in the Championship and is an important figure in the Leeds United midfield.

The 19-year-old midfielder has progressed well since his move to Leeds in 2015 and will play an important role for the Whites this season.

The England Under-20 international, though, did not feature in the Championship game against Sheffield Wednesday away from home at the weekend.

Vieira was an unused substitute in the match, as Leeds lost 3-0 to the Owls at the Hillsborough Stadium.

After the match, many Leeds fans questioned why head coach Thomas Christiansen did not start the youngster or bring him on as a substitute, as reported by HITC Sport.

It has now emerged that Vieira has a minor knee injury which has made him unavailable for the England Under-20 side.

Perhaps this is why the former Benfica youngster did not play for Leeds against Wednesday at the Hillsborough Stadium in the Championship on Sunday afternoon.

“Additionally Ronaldo Vieira will not be available for England’s Under-20s,” reads a statement on Leeds’s official website.

“The midfielder will instead work with the Leeds United medical staff after picking up a minor knee injury.”
