The Bournemouth midfielder has recently been linked with a return to Leeds United.

Leeds United fans still bemoaning Lewis Cook’s summer move to Bournemouth had a surprise earlier this week when reports began circulating suggesting the 19-year-old could re-join the Whites on loan in January.

The problem was, each report seemed to cite another, and when we appeared to get to the end of the named links they were still suggesting the news came from unconfirmed claims.

The simple fact is, no one was willing to put their name to the link, and that could well be because it is complete hokum.

After all, here at HITC we ran an opinion piece only a week ago suggesting Leeds may be wise to consider bringing Cook back to Elland Road after he struggled for game-time with the Cherries.

The decision was widely condemned by Leeds supporters given the sheer number of midfield options at Garry Monk’s disposal, yet shortly after the opinion piece, the ‘news’ reports started springing up.

Football fans are used to this kind of rumour – one that comes from nowhere and quickly grows until its origins are long forgotten. And in this instance it seems one man’s suggestion has quickly become many an editor’s headline.

Cook’s time at Leeds has come to an end and it is time for the club to look forward, with the likes of Eunan O’Kane and Ronaldo Vieira impressing since his exit.
