Ayoze Perez struck a hat-trick for Newcastle United at the weekend in a convincing win for Rafa Benitez’s side.

Perez has now scored 10 Premier League goals this season, his best return in a Newcastle shirt.

The problem of course with Perez hitting form, is that Newcastle’s resolve to keep him could be put to the test this summer.

He is a player who Tottenham Hotspur are long term admirers of.

Perez told Marca in 2015: “Tottenham and especially Mauricio Pochettino were really interested, which is hugely flattering for me.

“At the end of the day nothing came of it because Newcastle considered me an important player and wouldn’t let me leave.”

Perez has now been at Newcastle since 2014 and at 25-years-old, may be ready for a new challenge.

His versatility in attack could be especially useful for Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham, who have found it tough to add attackers who can complement Harry Kane.

Perez this season has played on the right wing, on the left, and has a central attacking midfielder.

With Christian Eriksen’s future uncertain, Perez would be a useful addition, and even if the Dane stays, he would be excellent cover.

Rafa Benitez is managing to get the best out of Perez, who has now scored 40 goals across the past five seasons for Newcastle.

Add him into a Tottenham team competing for the Champions League, and his numbers could skyrocket.
