Is this the summer Tottenham Hotspur make cut price move for striker Joshua King?

Tottenham Hotspur were linked to Joshua King last summer.

Last season Joshua King was the Premier League’s hidden gem who hit the best form of his career for Bournemouth.

King netted 16 top flight goals for the Cherries, and understandably interest began to rise from teams higher up the Premier League table.

Tottenham were one of the interested teams, and The Independent reported King was ‘intrigued’ by the prospect of moving to the North London side despite Harry Kane’s status as number one striker.

The Telegraph reported Bournemouth wanted £30 million – and quite sensibly Tottenham and other suitors which includied Everton, all backed off.

Early this season King struggled for goals, with his place in the Bournemouth attack disrupted by the summer signing of Jermain Defoe.

He has been deployed more as a supporting striker off the frontman, limiting his goals to just five.

Yet in recent weeks King has really stepped up, scoring twice in his past four games. He also has three assists to his name.

King has actually added a new strength to his game this season with his versatility, which might make him even more suitable for Spurs, playing off Kane.

His lack of goals could still diminish his market value, and allow Tottenham to sign the 26-year-old at a cut-price figure on the £30 million Bournemouth fancied last summer.

Spurs signed Fernando Llorente last year and they appear ready to cut their losses.

Moving to sign King this summer if his price has been reduced would be a classic move from chairman Daniel Levy, as opposed to paying full whack last summer, and might be Tottenham’s best bet.
