AC Milan were humbled 4-3 by minnows Sassuolo and coach Massimiliano Allegri’s job is hanging by a thread with a decision set to be made today.
AC Milan’s nightmare season has continued with a humiliating 4-3 loss at tiny Sassuolo, which may be the final straw for boss Max Allegri.
The Rossoneri have just 22 points from 19 games and are in genuine danger of slipping into a relegation dogfight.
Milan were undone by a magnificent Domenico Berardi who netted four times as strugglers Sassuolo battled back from 2-0 down.
After the final whistle Milan CEO Adriano Galliani refused to speak to the media while fellow director Barbara Berlusconi stressed that the performance was ‘unacceptable’.
Allegri was always going to leave at the end of the current season but it is widely believed that his exit will now be hastened.
A few names have been circulating for the longer term replacement, including Clarence Seedorf with Jaap Stam as his assistant.
But if the Diavolo have been forced into a more urgent decision, the favourite seems to be ex-marksman and current youth boss Pippo Inzaghi.
