Southampton have a strongest eleven which could keep them in the top ten of the Premier League.
It was always going to ne a difficult start to the season for Southampton as they lost so many top quality players over the summer.
However, Ronald Koeman has come in and replaced Mauricio Pochettino and the side don’t appear to have a hangover from the sales of those key stars.
The Saints have quickly risen to eighth place in the Premier League table and we’ve attempted to name their strongest side with everyone fit and available.
GK – Fraser Forster
Forster’s performances for old club Celtic saw him get into England’s World Cup squad. He’s looked solid at his new club.
RB – Nathaniel Clyne
It’s remarkable how Clyne was overlooked for the recent England squad ahead of the European qualifier against Switzerland on Monday.
CB – Jose Fonte
The 30-year-old provides that much needed experience in the Saints backline.
CB – Maya Yoshida
The 26-year-old is one of the most capped internationals in the team with 44 caps for Japan. He seems to be developing a good understanding with Fonte.
LB – Ryan Bertrand
Arrived at the club from Chelsea with a point to prove and he seems to be making it.
CM – James Ward-Prowse
He just seems to get better and better with the more experience he gains. An extremely versatile player in the middle.
CM – Morgan Schneiderlin
Seems to be focused following a summer of speculation over his future. Got forward well against West Ham.
CM – Steven Davis
Ensures there is experience in the middle of the team.
RS – Shane Long
Long has always been a feisty and dangerous player wherever he’s played during his career. He always works hard.
CS – Jay Rodriguez
Rodriguez was one of the highest scoring English players before his injury and he would have also gone to the World Cup.
LS – Graziano Pelle
Has made a good start to life at the club following a move from Dutch giants Feyenoord.
