Is this former Chelsea manager really about to lure Falcao away?

Could Radamel Falcao really be on his way to join Claudio Ranieri in Monaco?

Ladies and gentleman you can all forget about your Radamel Falcao rumours because it is over. At least according to one Spanish source it is. La Sexta have claimed that the Colombian goal-machine has agreed a deal to play for the mega-rich French outfit; Monaco.

Perhaps lured by its generous tax laws and a reported wage of €10 million a season the soon to be newly promoted Ligue 1 side may have completed one of the biggest transfer coups in history.

However reputable the source may be is one thing but in reality regardless of the factual element to this story it was only a matter of time before Falcao was linked with Monaco; because the pair are the most eagerly touted player and club respectively in world football.

Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Matic, Carlos Tevez, Victor Valdes, Loic Remy, Luis Suarez the list of players that are all set to join Dmitry Rybolovlev’s Russian revolution on the Riviera is an endless stream of talent.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea; another list but of teams linked with the striker and I am almost 100% certain that I have missed somebody out.

It was a mood well summarised by the Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo who said:

“Now Falcao’s going to Monaco? We are going to go around the whole world!”

So perhaps the €60 million deal is not as close to being sealed as we are led to believe.

But it would be an interesting deal should it come through as it would see this man get one up on his former employees; Claudio Ranieri.

He is currently the manager of Monaco and snapping up Falcao would be an excellent piece of business from his point of view; show me a manager in world football who wouldn’t like Falcao in their team and I will say Mark Hughes is a managerial visionary.

Chelsea’s interest in the striker may not be as widely reported as it once was but they would be mad not to want him up front. With Demba Ba average at best and Fernando Torres shocking in the league a headline act is necessary up front.

But Ranieri, who was unceremoniously sacked by Roman Abramovich, may just be about to take this option away from them if you believe what you read.

Do you think Falcao could go to Monaco?
