Nottingham Forest took the Newcastle United midfielder on loan over the past campaign.

Nottingham Forest’s desire to sign Grant Leadbitter from Middlesbrough, may just suggest Jack Colback won’t be with them next season.
Forest had taken Colback on loan from Newcastle United last term, and there were suggestions that he could end up at the City Ground in a £2 million deal (Chronicle).
Newcastle are looking to offload Colback, and Forest is touted as a potential destination.

However, Colback’s arrival at the City Ground, must be considered unlikely, if Leadbitter is in Aitor Karanka’s sights, as the Nottingham Post report.
There would be no reason for Forest to sign both Leadbitter and Colback, especially with their current midfield options already solid.

Forest already have Ben Watson, Adlene Guedioura and Liam Bridcutt already at the club.
And if Leadbitter does arrive this summer, then Colback will surely be elsewhere next season.
