Hmm, Tottenham Hotspur fans sure like Fernando Llorente and all, but many of them don’t want him back.
The towering Spanish striker left Spurs on a free transfer last summer after failing to earn a contract extension, despite playing a big role in helping the team – then managed by Mauricio Pochettino – to a Champions League final.
Llorente, who joined Tottenham under Pochettino in 2017, later signed for Napoli, but could he be returning to North London?
According to ESPN, the 35-year-old is ‘an option’ for chairman Daniel Levy this summer.
The Lilywhites never replaced Llorente after failing to sign a striker last summer – and in January – but with Harry Kane missing four months of this season through injury, another centre-forward looks certain to be on the agenda.
But Tottenham fans aren’t crazy about the idea of finally replacing Llorente with…..Llorente.
Here’s how some of them are reacting to the speculation on Twitter:
Is this a good idea? Well it’s hard to define a ‘bad idea’ at Tottenham, but this certainly seems like a backwards step and maybe it’s best to avoid the former Juventus star, on this occasion.
