Newcastle United fans have been left amazed after a clip of Unai Emery at St. James’ Park in 2018 was found on social media yesterday.
Emery to Newcastle?
Emery looks set to become Newcastle’s next manager (the Athletic), and it seems that the Magpies’ home ground caught his imagination while he was manager of Arsenal.
There is a clip of Emery surveying Newcastle’s home ground before kick off against Arsenal, and he looks awestruck by his surroundings as he walks round the pitch.
It should also be noted that playing over the stadium tannoy is the track ‘Big River’ by Jimmy Nail.
The song’s lyrics were used by Newcastle fans to celebrate their new era under PIF when the takeover went through.
Newcastle fans held aloft a banner saying: ‘Cause this is a mighty town. Built upon a solid ground, and everything they’ve tried so hard to kill – we will rebuild.’
Those are words which came from Nail’s track, and Newcastle supporters were amazed to see the clip from three years ago surface now.
Excitement building at St. James’ Park
If Emery does take charge at Newcastle, he could be an extremely exciting appointment.
Although his time in English football was of mixed success previously, he has since gone on to prove himself at Villarreal.
Emery is now also the most successful manager in Europa League history, having won the trophy four times, and his CV ranks him among some of the most impressive managers in world football at this moment in time.
