The Glasgow Rangers defender was a different class against Aberdeen.
It is fair to say that Rangers centre-back Danny Wilson has come in for plenty of criticism during his time at Ibrox, but his performance against Aberdeen on Wednesday evening was a different class, and one wonders what the presence of Bruno Alves could do for the 25-year-old.
Many Gers fans expected Wilson to make way once Alves recovered from injury, yet it was Ross McCrorie who moved, albeit further forward, allowing his recent defensive partner to stake a claim alongside the Portuguese international.
He did not disappoint, putting in the kind of performance that the vast majority of Rangers fans would not have thought possible.
In short, Wilson was outstanding, and if he can continue to learn from Alves and deliver these kind of showings, he could yet become a vital player for Rangers next permanent boss.
Some Gers fans may be reluctant to praise him too highly after one game, having seen some of his less than impressing performances in recent times. Yet this was something altogether different.
Wilson looked like a different player, and if Alves stays fit and happy at Ibrox, Rangers could have one hell of a centre-back pairing, and on few saw coming.
