The South Korean has been excellent for Tottenham of late.
Earlier in the season Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola dubbed Tottenham Hotspur “the Harry Kane team”, but, given the impact that Son Heung-min has made in recent weeks, such a tag feels outdated.
Kane remains Tottenham’s main attacking threat, with the striker having scored five goals in his last five matches across all competitions.
However, Son has been playing an increasingly important part of late, with the South Korean providing Mauricio Pochettino’s side with some much-needed additional attacking momentum.
A very hard-working player with excellent technique, Son hasn’t always been a regular in the starting lineup this season but he has often made a significant contribution when called upon.
Son found the net in the 1-1 draw against Watford and then proceeded to produce an excellent display in the 5-1 thrashing of Stoke City as he scored and also provided an assist for Christian Eriksen.
Eriksen is also a major attacking threat for Tottenham and is level with Son on four goals across all competitions this season though he has played significantly more minutes, while the Dane has provided three more assists.
Son, though, provides a slightly more direct approach than Eriksen as he is constantly seeking to get beyond opposing defenders and into the final third, while when stationed on the left flank, as he has been recently, he can provide dangerous crosses with regularity.
With Dele Alli not at his best, Tottenham have needed an extra creative spark and Son has certainly provided it.
