Glasgow Rangers loanee Ryan Kent scored a fantastic goal in the win at Ibrox over the weekend.

While Ryan Kent was once considered one of the most exciting talents in the Liverpool youth ranks, some would be forgiven for feeling that his loan move to Rangers this summer could have been perceived as something of a last chance for the winger to prove that he can realise his initial potential.
Kent headed to Ibrox off the back of a handful of disappointing loan spells elsewhere, and the Gers youngster had arguably been overtaken by some of his teammates in the Reds academy in recent years after previously looking like one of the prospects most likely to force his way into first-team contention in the future.
Joining Steven Gerrard at Rangers therefore, appeared to be a big moment in Kent’s career. And while he has taken a little while to get going, perhaps his latest display just provided the slightest hint that he is finally ready to realise that scary potential that he showed before he initially got a first-team chance at Anfield.
Kent scored his first goal for the Gers in their 4-0 win over Dundee, and it is fair to say that it was a superb finish from the youngster. The winger cut inside and showed some gorgeous close control to play a one-two with Alfredo Morelos before doing the same with Scott Arfield on the edge of the box.

He then showed the composure of a striker to slide the ball under the goalkeeper for just his fifth goal in senior football. But it was not just his goal that impressed. His clever running opened the game up on numerous occasions, and some of his passing really caused problems for the visitors – it was his through ball that led to the penalty that James Tavernier converted to make the score 3-0.
It was a superb performance from Kent, and it is the kind of display that he will need to replicate regularly if he wants to keep his place given the quality that Gerrard has available to him in wide areas. But if he can get a run of form going, then he could turn into a frightening ace up Rangers’ sleeve during the campaign.
