The on-loan Derby County forward has been impressing Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters.
Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Andreas Weimann
After joining Paul Clement’s Derby County back in 2015, many thought that Andreas Weimann would be in a pole position to kick start his career, after struggling for game-time at Aston Villa. However, after being forced to play out wide by Clement, the Austrian forward slowly fell out of favour at Pride Park.
A change of manager didn’t change things for the striker. Under Nigel Pearson, Weimann was looking like coming back into the frame, but after just a few months Pearson was gone, with McClaren coming back into the hotseat. He, like Clement, tried Weimann out-wide, and after seeing the player struggling to fit, the Austrian was sent out on loan to Wolverhampton Wanderers in January.
Since arriving at Molineux, Andreas Weimann has impressed supporters. His direct running, tireless work ethic, and neat finishing when in on goal, has added a degree of strikers instinct which the team had been lacking, and now some fans are keen to see the club pursue the forwards permanent signature in the summer.
But this won’t be as simple as the deal may have been a few months ago. Since Weimann joined Wolves, Derby County have changed managers and styles, moving to a system which suits the Austrian forward a lot more than Steve McClaren’s did. The price and value of the forward, to the Rams, might just have ramped up, and Paul Lambert’s side may now face a tough task in bringing him to the club indefinitely.

But if a deal were possible, should this be something Wolves attempt to make happen? How high on Paul Lambert’s shopping list might Andreas Weimann be? The manager got the best out of the forward during his time at Aston Villa, and appears to be doing it again now.
