Will Leeds United sign £50k-a-week Pierre-Michel Lasogga on a permanent basis?

Victor Orta, Leeds United’s Director of Football, suggested to a Q & A session on Monday that the Championship club were exploring the possibility of signing Pierre-Michael Lasogga on a permanent basis.
The German hitman joined Leeds on a season-long loan last summer but, having scored three goals in his last four games, the question is whether the Whites can keep him at Elland Road in the long term.
But surely the answer is no.

Lasogga has one year left on his £50,000-a-week Hamburg deal and Leeds, according to The Yorkshire Evening Post, are only paying a quarter of that this season – £12,500.
The Whites might consider paying him a lot more than that if he signs on a permanent basis, but the 26-year-old would still have to take a huge paycut and, let’s face it, he hasn’t been a roaring success in Yorkshire.

The powerful striker has netted 10 goals in 22 Championship appearances and despite scoring five goals in his last seven games overall, Lasogga did endure a seven-match barren spell earlier in the campaign.
As good as he can be, Lasogga is prone to going off the boil in a big way and unless he maintains his red-hot form until May, Leeds should save the millions of pounds that they would otherwise spend on his salary.
He is a good striker, but surely he hasn’t proven enough to deserve the sky-high wages that he has been earning for Hamburg.
