Leeds United will welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Elland Road in the Championship on Wednesday night.
Paul Heckingbottom’s Leeds side play host to Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night, and the 40-year-old described the clash as ‘the perfect game’ for his side, as quoted by the Express & Star.
The Whites currently sit in 12th spot in the Championship table, after a woeful run that has seen them win just one of their last 11 league outings.
Heckingbottom appeared in good spirits, when speaking to reporters ahead of Wednesday night’s clash with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, labelling the contest as the ‘perfect game’ for his side, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“It’s probably the perfect game. The best team in the league so far, at home, big crowd. Perfect game for us.”
Is he asking for trouble, though?
The Black Country outfit are a wounded animal, having taken just two points from their last three league outings – a mini-blip that could make them at their most dangerous at Elland Road.
They will be desperate to take all three points against the west Yorkshire outfit, and will be acutely aware of the fact that Leeds are in the midst of a miserable run themselves.
Wolves, despite their recent roubles, are still the best footballing side in the Championship, by quite some way, and facing up against them on Wednesday night is surely the last thing that Heckingbottom would have wanted, if he is truly honest with himself.
The Whites will, of course, have to be at their very best, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of beating Wolves, and Heckingbottom’s side will be buoyed by the fact that they could jump up inside the top 10 with a victory.
Nuno’s men will be ready for the challenge, however, and if they play to their maximum potential, there will only be one winner.
